A classmate tells you that she finds the least common multiple of two counting numbers by listing the multiples of each number and then choosing the smallest number that appears in both lists. Is this a correct procedure? What is the weakness of this procedure?

The method adopted by the classmate is the right but the very long procedure to find out the least common multiple. It is very difficult and also is a very time-consuming method to first write the multiples of all the numbers and then find out the smallest among them.
Final Statement:
Yes, the procedure given in the question is right but the procedure is tedious and time-consuming.
